These 33 ⅓ RPM records were printed on thin plastic placed on thin cardboard so that they could be easily distributed to children . Sponsored by two of the largest toothpaste companies, Proctor- & Gamble and Colgate-Palmolive with support from the Council on Dental Therapeutics and the American Dental Association, they reflected a growing interest in early childhood prevention of tooth decay.
